Face Lift

Face lifts are performed by plastic surgeons to reduce the slackness in the tissues of the face; a face lift tightens or excises muscle, fat and skin, producing a more youthful, rested appearance. For individuals interested in reducing sagging in the facial area, face lifts may be the best way to address the problem. For many patients, the key issues corrected by face lift surgery include sagging jowls, loose neck skin, and fat accumulation under the chin (double chin).

There are some variations in face lift techniques, depending upon the specific individual facial constructions, and the intended outcome of the face lift surgery. The length of the face lift surgery will depend on the individual. Typically, a facelift can be completed in less than three hours. However, the amount of work you will require will directly affect the amount of time the operation takes. Bandages may be applied to the head and neck with the purpose of maintaining the area and keeping it stationary. The bandages are usually removed a day after the procedure.

After a facelift, many patients are astonished by the lack of pain there is after surgery. For several weeks, expect some swelling around the eyes; however as the swelling goes away, you'll begin to see the surgery's progress. Measures are necessary during your recovery. Bending or lifting can extend swelling and is not suggested for three weeks after surgery. Running, cycling, or exercises should not resume for three weeks. Driving is permissible when the swelling goes down and does not get in the way of your vision. 20TH Century Face Lift CO2 Ultra Pulse Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser Resurfacing of facial scars and wrinkles has become one of the most popular new cosmetic procedures. This procedure is very effective for wrinkles around the mouth, eye and forehead, as well as facial scars from acne, chicken pox or trauma. The procedure takes anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes depending upon the extent of the treated area. About a week of postoperative care is required, and most patients choose to avoid social situations for about 14 days due to pinkness of the skin.

Brow Lift

Brow Lift is a procedure that improves the appearance of the facial region, mainly between the upper eyelids and the scalp extending to the temples. This procedure is done to minimize lines/creases in the forehead, and to improve low or sagging brows. It also raises the brow to a more alert, youthful position. Results are immediate though it will take 10-14 days for most swelling and bruising to resolve. Most patients find that they can return to work within a week after the brow lift. If possible a lesser invasive procedure known as a brow pexy can be performed through an upper eyelid incision. Your doctor can elaborate on your defects and desires in order to make recommendations.

Facial Liposuction

Liposuction can help the chin area, neck, jowls, and cheeks. Recovery time can vary from a day to two weeks, depending upon the areas treated, the extent of the fat removed and the general condition of the patient. 

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

Upper Eyelid Surgery is performed to remove the fat deposits, loose skin and drooping skin that may have formed around the upper eyelids due to age. Heredity and sun damage can hasten these changes. Younger people also elect to have this procedure done to eliminate puffiness of the eyes from congenital excess fatty tissue. In a typical upper eyelid surgery procedure, the plastic surgeon first marks the individual lines and creases of the lids in order to minimize the scars. The incision is made, and excess fat, muscle, and loose skin are removed. Fine sutures are used to close the incisions, thereby minimizing the visibility of any scar. In lower eyelid surgery, the doctor may recommend that an incision be made in an inconspicuous site along the lash line or inside the lower lid. Excess fat, muscle, and skin are then trimmed away, redistributed, and tightened before the incision is closed with fine sutures. Patients are encouraged to rest at home for approximately one week following eyelid surgery. We will remove any stitches, in 4 to 5 days. 

Otoplasty (Ear Surgery)

Otoplasty is an operation that is performed to correct prominent ears. This condition can be moderate or severe and manifests itself by causing the ears to protrude and cup forward. While usually diagnosed at a younger age, this condition is ignored and camouflaged by wearing the hair longer. In children, it is often the cause of ridicule by classmates and may cause significant psycho-social concerns.

The operation, which can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation or under general anesthesia, consists of making a small incision behind the ear removing some of the cartilage and manipulating the cartilage with sutures in essence "pinning the ears back" to a more aesthetically pleasing position. The patient is required to wear a headband for several days after surgery. Children can usually return to school in several days and full activity is resumed within two to four weeks. The satisfaction rate for this surgery is extremely high as the results are immediately visible and are usually life long.
